A Short Summer Getaway

We are well into June and of course that means Halloween sewing! It is week three for the Fat Quarter Shop’s free Haunted Halloween quilt a long. This week was fun to sew as it was a haunted house. I always use my Alphabitties to keep track of all the cutout pieces. It just makes finding them so much easier.

As I was sewing, I tend to iron open my seams and use my clapper whenever possible so I can keep my block nice and flat. I thought I would show you the back of the block to you can see how I ironed it.

Try your best to keep your ¼” seam allowance and to pin as much as you can so things do not shift. Afterwards, I trim just the smallest bit around the whole block to square it up. Keep all points ¼” away from where you cut so they remain visible when it is all sewn together.

One more week to go and then to sew it all together and quilt it. If you want to see variations of these blocks you can see them on Facebook under “Kimberly’s Stitch Squad”. There are so many clever ideas!

Don’t forget to take advantage of the Red and White sale with all fabric that is red, white or red and white that is 15% off our already low prices until the end of June. Let’s enjoy Canada Day with displaying lots of red and white celebratory decorations.

Also, just a reminder that even though we will not be making deliveries or processing orders from June 22 – June 26, we will be back on the job June 27 so you can still place your orders during the time we are gone. We are heading to sin city – Las Vegas – for a long-awaited vacation. Angeles, my husband and I planned on going before the pandemic when my son turned 21 but had to put it on hold. Oh, I also plan to hit the local cross stitch shop to see what treasures I can find.

Enjoy this lovely weather and keep sewing, keep stitching!
