What a great start to a fabulous summer. Happy 4th to our neighbours to the south today. Canada Day was memorable with a backyard BBQ with my aunt and uncle and then an unbelievable fireworks display in our local park across the street. Kudos to the families in the neighbourhood who put on this display for all to watch.
We have started a new giveaway, for anyone who buys anything from the beginning of July to the end of August, to win a Lori Holt Tomato Pin Cushion Quilt Kit (includes quilt pattern, fabric for quilt top and binding). We will announce the winner in September to be sure to get your orders in before time runs out.
Keeping up with our quilt a long with the Fat Quarter Shop I want to show you my completed quilt as well as my cross stitch made into a whimsical Halloween bag. You don’t have to just frame your cross stitch finishes but come up with your own creative way to display your work. A big shout out to Fat Quarter Shop for again supplying their customers with free patterns to stitch and quilt a long to.
Now, just because it is summer does not mean you have to put your needle and thread away. If you have a portable machine and can set it up outside then take full advantage of the nice weather. I take my Featherweight as well as my small iron out to my gazebo and keep the sewing going. I can listen to the birds and my fountains while I fully enjoy sewing and being outdoors as well as watch my favourite YouTube videos on my outdoor tv. I call it a little bit of Heaven on Earth.
I am ready to start my newest project from the Summer Memories book by Susan Ache. I am making the cover quilt called "Crossroads Quilt". It just says summer to me. I already had a fat quarter bundle of reds and one of blues as it calls for 12 reds and 6 blues. For the rest of the fabric requirements, I used Kimberbell Teal Tiny Dots, Basic Paulette White on White 37127-WW, Fruit Cocktail Cherry 520465-15, and Fruit Cocktail Blueberry 520466-13. I will keep you updated on my progress.
Until next time, keep sewing, keep stitching!
