At 60 and retired what could possibly motivate me to start an online shop? There are a few reasons that answer this question. When I was approaching retirement I had to think of a way to reinvent myself to a very different lifestyle. I have a passion for quilting and really want to reach out to the quilting community with choices. Choices on fabric and how to buy fabric. After an influx of buying online during the pandemic, it became a way of life for many of us. I bought most of my fabric online sight unseen but knew the brands so I knew it was of good quality. At our shop, we have that same quality and variety of fabric and notions.
Another reason was to pass along my knowledge as well as skills of other quilters to the up and coming sewing enthusiasts. To pull people away from their screens even if only for a short while so they could sit and focus on the task at hand, whether it be quilting, cross stitch or whatever strikes your fancy. I like to think of it as good for the soul as it is for the mind.
My third reason touches my heart as how many mothers get the opportunity to work side by side with their children! With my son at the helm working the website, editing videos, creating the artwork for the logo, social media posts, photographer and taking care of all the legal jargon (whew on that last one!). How lucky am I? My whole family has rallied around us with support in all ways.
I would like to fill this blog with quilting and sewing ideas, techniques, up and coming products and fabrics to fully inspire you as well as add some humor and a bit of whatever life throws my way.
