Mid-Summer Scraps and Sales

Well, we are truly in the dog days of summer now. Very toasty out there! I had a wonderful birthday celebration with my family and so many calls and social media posts with well wishes. No baby news to report (for those of you wondering) at the writing of this blog. I was hoping for a lovely bundle on my birthday, but this little girl wants her own day 😊

From July 21 to July 28, all of our fat quarter bundles, fat eighth bundles and our Layer Cakes are on sale for 20% off so take advantage of our already low prices being even lower! With the rising prices of fabrics this is the perfect opportunity to stock up.

I have been pretty busy this last week sewing and stitching. First, I’d like to show you what I did with all my leftover fabric from our recent Halloween sew along. I like to use my scraps up whenever I can so I decided to make a table runner from a pattern out of a Kim Diehl book – Simple Patchwork - I own. This book has many smaller quilt patterns and perfect for using up scraps. If anyone is interested in this book, drop us a line at support@drunkardspath.com and I can order it for you.

This pattern was very easy to do and a quick sew. I even used up the rest of my bigger scraps for the back. I love to have a pieced back using up whatever fabric I think might tie into the quilt.

Next, I used one of the cross stitch charts from the book Summer Memories to create this cute little pillow. After I finished the cross stitch, I added the borders to the cross stitch fabric, added some batting and quilted the front. I then turned it into a pillow with a matching back – same as the borders. I filled it with crushed walnut shells. Here is a tip – I bought my walnut shells at the local pet store for far cheaper than other craft stores. It is known as lizard litter but is exactly the same thing. I paid $21 for a large 10 lb bag.

Until next time, keep sewing, keep stitching!
