I would like to write about something a little different this time. Rather than speak about the creative side of quilting, I would like to inform you of the importance of supporting your local small businesses. We live in a world where we buy things with a click of a button and that usually means buying from the big mega stores. The small Mom and Pop shops truly rely on local consumers to keep them going. From places like Etsy, online quilt and needle-works shops, to brick and mortar shops, it is important to keep these places at the forefront of your mind when shopping. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t buy from these larger companies, just to keep a balance so the smaller shops can keep going.
It brings to mind places like the large conglomerate bookshops that have almost pushed out all the smaller, quaint bookshops. There is nothing like going to a small, unique bookshop and finding a treasure of a book that no other shop has. I don’t know about you, but I sure would hate for the next generation to miss out on that experience.
What do you think?
As always, keep sewing, keep stitching….
